Zentangle #9

Finished up my zentangle #9 today… and began on #10. I am trying to gear up for ART EVERYDAY MONTH. I am going to try and do something everyday in the month of November. This will be my second year in participating. I am also entering a couple of my photos in a contest at work. This is the second year for me to participate. I think I am going to put this one in for sure…

I have been improving my skills using Corel Paint Shop Pro X2…

Zentangle #8

Sunday evening and quite the weekend… went into my sewing room yesterday to change the filter in the furnace. Of course I have the access blocked with boxes of fabric, stuff and more stuff. In the process of moving things out of the way in the closet to get to the filter, I actually cleaned out a few things. I was able to move some cart things out of the room and in the closet when I was done changing the filter. I am now able to have my ironing board tucked into a space and not sticking out so that when I walk by I almost knock the iron over plus everything stack on it. During the evening, I drew this zentanlge watching a college football game.
Again today I was in my sewing room thinking, okay it is time to get your you know what in gear and finish one of your many projects.
You see, I used to own a quilt shop and so, I have lots of quilt tops and some projects not yet finished… one of them being a hand appliquéd block of the month call A Country Journal. I only have a few pieces (maybe 20 - 25) left to appliqué before I can put the top together. I closed my shop just about seven years ago before our family trauma started (husband loosing job after 29.5 years) and I have had a severe block about the thought of quilting, the desire to quilt, anything about quilting. I haven't wanted to have anything to do with it up until now. I think doing the other artful things I have been doing has helped, especially the zentangles…. I will have to take a few pictures of the blocks and post them. It will be nice when I get it completed….

zentangle #7

I am so glad Hybrid J left a comment about zentangles. I have a friend at work that I had showed my doodles/zentangles to. He tried it and enjoyed the process and creation (Mike I hope you put it on your blog). He was talking about getting a sketch book and pens so….. being the pack rat that I am, I found an extra sketch book, pen. Then the bonus… Cloth Paper & Scissor magazine just posted their new issue and guess what was in it? An article on Zentangles by Sandy Steen Bartholomew I printed it out and gave everything to Mike the next day. What fun!

Doodle #6

I decided drawing a free hand circle did not look so good for my doodle so, I found a small bowl I have and used it. This is my Doodle #6. This is short, 6:58 am and need to leave for work…. Have a great day!

doodle and pictures

The view from my kitchen window... I took this picture on Saturday and as of today, the wind has blown all the leaves off the trees.... they looked so beautiful!

I have been working on many things the past few days and trying to avoid getting the flu that has been going around at work. One of the things I like to do is digital scrap booking… I consider myself a rookie at it but, I have fun! I have been teaching myself how to make masks. In the page below, I created two separate masks and layered everything together. I am quite pleased on how it turned out.

The next thing I did was a couple of doodles. One of them I drew by hand and the other I created digitally and use it as a brush in my Corel program. I just truly enjoy the doodling.. this one is hand drawn....

This one I did digitally............

And then, I have been working on a scrapbook for my youngest daughter for her twenty-first birthday. I did one for her older sister for hers. I go from the day they were born to current date. I am having fun looking at all the baby pictures….

Last night....

What I enjoy about doodling is you can do it anywhere any time and it's relaxing.... I have a couple of shows that I like to watch... Project Runway and Models of the Runway but, I have a hard time sitting still and not doing anything. Last night my stomach was not feeling well and it doesn't this morning so I did the above doodle or zentangle. I did the circle which wasn't perfect and just started filling it in. I think I am becoming addicted to doing this.

Doodle 3

Here is my creation for today.... I really think I could do this everyday! I wish that I could shut my door at work and create a zentangle... it would probably help with the stress of my day... ummm I wonder if my boss would mind? Both my daughters came over to visit and different times and they thought they were cool. My oldest thought I should make a stamp out of the one I posted yesterday... it would be cool but a lot of work to carve....

doodle number 2

One of the recent comments from one of my post was telling me about zentangles.... and with the Creative Everyday theme "connect", I think I have connected with zentangles! Now not knowing a lot about it yet, I think I have the basic concept and I have always loved to doodle... this reminds me of a sea shell.... I also love hearing from people.... and reading the comments and ideas... it's great!

collage....

For this weeks crowabout challenge I decided to use fabric and paper... I took certain items off the collage sheet that I liked and printed them on fabric. Using a piece of canvas, I started building my collage. The horse in the pictures is mine, Tex.... I used a card from a cowgirl game I have and some stamps I made myself and of course fabric from my stash.... I love Sunday mornings, that is usually when I get one day of the week to be creative without interruptions. My goal is to make more collages using canvas and turn it into a journal by stitching them together....

Zentangles....

Hybrid J made a comment on my last posting and suggested I take a look at Zentangles.... well what a cool thing! I went to Zentangles.com and truly liked the art work. I actually love to doodle (you should see my note book from work from when I am sitting in a staff meeting...) anyway I also found a youtube video demo on zentangles..... I tried my hand at it in my staff meeting and did something tonight in my semi attempt at a creative journal.... I need to learn more about this.... this was my take on it without knowing a lot....

Another GTO picture....

I finished another painting.... the center of our GTO... the Pontiac symbol. Next is the grill with GTO on it. It has been fun doing this, I get better at painting every time I do something (at least I hope I do). I am glad it rained today, went in my sewing room and finished the painting. I wanted to sew a new top today but didn't get to it. I need to make a list of things I want to accomplish, I feel that I am wanting to do to many different things and cannot focus. My goal this week is to get my thoughts and want I want to get done written down and stay on track....
