zentangle #27.... for my horse

This past week was hard... on Wednesday I had to put my horse down.... he had cancer.... His name was Tex....

He was a big boy... 16.2 hands and very gentle...

I still have my pony who in the picture with Tex...

This my second horse... there is something about getting on a horse and going for a ride... it's freedom.  Eventually I will get another but for now I have my memories.....   Thanks for looking...

The past few days have been busy getting ready for Christmas. Of course, I waited until the very last minute to do anything…. Including shopping. I have taken some pictures of the deer that were across the way in my neighbors yard… my horse and my dogs… I took the pictures of the deer just this past week and we had no snow and then it snowed just a little bit. I played around with one of my zentangles and did some digital stuff… I need to take the time to print them on fabric and go from there…. I have also been making journals and planners using old books as covers…. I have been off of work this week and luckily it has not felt like it has zipped by for which I am thankful! Need to finish a couple of more things….. Thanks for looking!

Stampede Photos...

Where I live they have the Snake River Stampede and I took some great shots there this year… (at least I like them). At work we are have a photo contest and I did some layering and adjustments for the above photo. I liked how it turned out and I have also printed a copy for myself. Below is the photo with out the "creative" adjustments that I am also turning into our contest at work.

Been a while....

It has been a while since I have been on... My Dad has been in the hospital... went to California to see him.. He was on life support for two weeks, luckily off now and in a transitional assisted living place from the hospital to get stronger.... wow... Last week worked on my horse picture again... it has been going through some transitions.... learning a lot on how to paint. I went from this...

to this.....

I think I am done.... I like how it has turned out. I am ready to start another one....

Working on my horse painting...

This morning I got up and worked on my horse painting... I think it is coming along well... I am thinking I may have to work a little more on the face... I do know one thing, I need to get an easel to paint with... I have been doing this kind of in my lap or propped up with a drawer....

I am trying to paint again... I think I am doing a little better? I think I am going to lighten up the bottom portion of the "body" I am not sure what to do with the background above his head but, I will figure it out.... I think the more I practice I hope I get better?

This past weekend...

This past weekend I found time to do a few things... work a little overtime, watch the Superbowl and try my hand at painting with acrylics. I am trying to teach myself. This is my horse Tex... I know I have a lot to learn. I am trying to find a good book that will help... This month in CED the theme is words, my word when I was inspired was "horse". I love my horse and pony. There is something about riding in the foothills and stopping on a ridge and looking over the valley. You forget about the stresses of life and truly have an enjoyable moment not worrying about anything. I dreamed of owning a horse since I was 9 years old and got my first one at 38. I learned to ride English and do dressage. I liked it very much and found it very challenging. I am hoping to find more time to ride with the days getting a little longer and a little warmer (ha ha it was 19 this morning). It will be spring soon I hope!

Winter wonderland...

Boy did we get some snow for the holiday! I had taken the week off for Christmas and was glad I was home to enjoy all the snow. We had a little more that a foot at our place in some areas. We can get a few inches but this year a record was set for the amount of snow that fell in December... I think it was 20" since 1929 or something like that. We had our snowmobile out, our friends brought theirs over and the kids actually rode over to her boyfriends parents house on the sled which is about 4 miles away. Here are some pictures....

Now my vacation is over (back to work today) and I am feeling better (sick my whole vacation with a cold) I am going to read my new books True Vision and Kaleidoscope and get busy doing more artful things maybe start on some Christmas presents for next year...

My first attempt at painting....

I have never really painted a "picture" before... I really got into it. Along with painting, I am also trying to improve with drawing. This is a picture of my horse Tex out in my pasture. I can see where I need to learn some blending techniques and other things but, I am happy with the way it turned out.

This past week was difficult in many ways and it is nice to find a release. My job is always stressful, it never seems to end and then my girls are moving and what a work out that is! I went and purchased more art supplies this weekend with a friend. I picked up some Shiva Artist Paintstiks and started a picture in my "Whispers" journal. It should be dry tomorrow to add some details, it is another picture of my horse.

I am hoping to find time to finish my picture in my journal tomorrow. I may have to get more boxes from my daughters apartment and move the to the new place after work. After all the stuff we moved today, I am going to be so sore.....
