I had a very busy week this last week and weekend... I finished my box, did these two drawings, finished ripping out the stitching on my daughters quilt and requilted it (now need to bind) and have a new zentangle drawing almost completed.  It is amazing how much time I have when I am not working overtime for my job....  well thanks for looking.... have a great day!

a completed project....

I spent the whole day in my "sewing" room and made a journal using my canvas that I used my zentangle stamp on.....

This is the back..... button closure

I started off with the covers of hard bound books, painted them and then applied paper towels that I dyed (learned this from my book Collage Unleashed by Traci Bautista) I ripped up the paper towels and glued them down with Mod Podge....

After letting the paper towel dry, I assembled my canvas piece using ribbon, beads, sewing, wire and collage on the back inside cover and that is this photo....
and then I had to punch holes in the cover and back (it was to thick for my little binding machine) cut up my paper and assembled my journal....
and here is another view....
What a great way to spend a Saturday being creative.  A lot of the elements I used have been an accumulation of things from the past.  Going to make more.....  thanks for looking!

craving a stamp and painting

On Saturday I started painting on some canvas and carving a stamp to use on the canvas....  this is the stamp I carved:

This is one of the canvas that I did, I put acrylic paint on the stamp and then "stamped" on to the canvas.  The imprint was light so I traced around the design with a sharpie...

My next one I used light molding compound with the acrylic paint and it stamped better:

My next step with these are to do some more painting and incorporating other elements that I have.  I hope to work on this tomorrow after work....  Thanks for looking!

collage....

For this weeks crowabout challenge I decided to use fabric and paper... I took certain items off the collage sheet that I liked and printed them on fabric. Using a piece of canvas, I started building my collage. The horse in the pictures is mine, Tex.... I used a card from a cowgirl game I have and some stamps I made myself and of course fabric from my stash.... I love Sunday mornings, that is usually when I get one day of the week to be creative without interruptions. My goal is to make more collages using canvas and turn it into a journal by stitching them together....

Crowabout week 53

I finally had time or should I say life has slowed down with issues to start playing again with the Crowabout group.... I had fun doing this... It took me about 3 or so hours to do... I got the Queen song Bicycle Races in my head as I made this. The background is a painted on I did and scanned in my computer and then I used elements from Crowabouts week 53 and from other weeks. I went on a long road trip recently and the writing I did using my bamboo pad and the alphabet style I created on the long drive.... this was fun!

Crowabout week 44 "Parlor Game"

I started off with a picture I took of the moon which was fuzzy, using Corel Paint shop pro I added a bubble effect to the picture and then started pulling colors from the Crowabout elements from Nancy color filled the bubbles.... I then created the second layer of the strips and tried to make them look like they are floating. I then started adding elements from week 44 and used some from prior weeks....

working on a collage...

I haven't had a chance to get on line this past week... my Dad had a stroke and I had to fly to California to see him.  I am working on a collage for crowabout week 28.  I am getting close to being finished...  I am trying to figure out if I want to add a little more images along with trying to figure out what I am going to journal about.

Well, I will contemplate this overnight as I have been up since 4am and I have to go lock up the barn....

It's the weekend....

I was looking so forward to this weekend... sleeping in... relaxing.... wow, wake up at 6:30am after not being able to fall asleep until probably 1:30am.  I can never sleep in on a weekend. Oh well!  I did complete a collage for crowabout this weekend. Missed the deadline to submit but that's okay.  I like how it came out.  I even used a picture of myself from when I was oh so young!
I am also working on making myself a case to carry my sunglasses in out of canvas.  I have drawn a picture of a horse (of course) on it with oil paint sticks. I hope they are dry tomorrow to ad details, quilt and stitch together. I am also working on some new curtains for my bathroom that I have been re-doing.  I am trying to get myself motivated into sewing/quilting more but, I am having a hard time.  I have a block for some reason and I need to figure out why.  My goal this next week is to really focus on being creative some how every day this next week. I feel much better about things, more relaxed....

half way through the week

I have been working for a few days on a journal page that has some of the elements from the Crowabout collage group I am in and it is also being creative almost everyday.  I have been trying to focus on words and doing some writing in a journal.  This collage brought out some thoughts about life and times in the past which is alright.  One of the other things I have been working on is redoing my master bathroom... 16 years of one wallpaper is enough to drive you crazy.  It's all been stripped and painted, just have to add some texture to the walls with sponge  technique.  I just have one more bathroom to redo that has wallpaper....

Collage page completed....

I finally had an evening where I did not have a computer issue (got ride if iTunes - blue screened my computer) everything seems to be working fine now.... It was nice to do something fun and play around. In fact it is now 12:25am and I have to get up for work in about five hours, that is how engrossed I was in doing my collage. I may have to get a latte tomorrow to stay awake... I am hoping this week end to get in my room and do some sewing... maybe finish another quilt top. Not sure......

Where have the first 3 days of the year gone?

Time does go by fast... I have been spending most of mine trying to fix my computer or figure out why my Corel program wasn't working. When you don't know what you are doing, it can take a while... downloaded some programs and updates and we are back in business.

January 1 I did a journal page in a new book. I have been reading a couple of books I just bought: Kaleidoscope by Suzanne Simanaitis and True Vision Authentic Art Journaling by L.K. Ludwig. Great books. There are some ideas and tips I would like to try. I am finding the best time for me to be creative is in the early morning. I am not sure what that is going to mean on a work day (getting up at 5am maybe) but on Sunday mornings it's off to my room while everyone is sleeping. On new years day I took a lot of photo's but I have not had a chance to upload them since I was having the computer problem. Tomorrow I am going to and possible upload some to my blog. That's it for today....

A new collage page...

I just finished a new collage page for the Flickr group I am in... "looking through the window".... as I see it... the many facets of life and being a person but yet having to meet the needs of various people in your family...

I went to the book store this weekend and bought a few new magazines. I got the new Quilting Arts, Cloth.Paper.Scissors and Artful Blogging. Quilting Arts has a great article on Katie Pasquini Masopust. I would love to take a class from her someday. I have a quilt that I did with a round robin group a few years ago that was based on one of her books. I am going to have to take a picture of the quilt and upload it. I am very happy as to how it turned out.
Well, I think I will call it a night... need to upload my collage to the Flickr group.

Can't believe it's December

Wow, can't believe it is December already.... I have a daughter who's birthday is coming up soon on the 16th and then it is Christmas.... Had a few extra days off of work from the Thanksgiving holiday. Very hard to go back to work. Cleaned up my "sewing" room as much as one can when you have a tendency to do a lot of different things. I was able to finally vacuum the floor.. Joined a group for collage. Posted my first one on Flickr (collage play with crowabout ) It's interesting how you can take elements and come up with something and how those same elements are put to getter so different from everyone else.

All of a sudden, I am ready for bed. It is 11:25 pm and I have been up since 5:30am.... plus I ran 2 miles tonight... no wonder I am tired........night
